Originally from the UK, James started dancing salsa at the end of 2000 when he first moved to Dubai UAE, although he says to have picked up most of his technique and skills from attending various congresses around the world, including L.A and the UK. He started teaching during late 2002, and was the only local teacher to represent Dubai at the Dubai Salsa Congress. Since 2002 he has performed with various partners at numerous events throughout the Region. Notable performances include the 2002 Salsa Brava Event, 2002 Dubai Salsa Congress, 2003 MEST, 2005 and 2006 UAE Salsa Festival, 2006 Bahrain F1 Grand Prix Gala Dinner. Today, James and his partner Alex are recognized as one of the best salsa couples in the Middle East, particularly for their teaching skills as well as their ability to dance both "On 1" and "On 2".

Alex’s love for dancing started at a very young age although her addiction to salsa only started in 2002, when she first was introduced to it by a friend. Very quickly, she was asked to practice with a local salsa group which led to her first group performance in the 2003 UAE Bacardi Salsa Cup. Alex then participated in her first competition in the same event the following year. Towards the end of 2004, she started teaching as well as performing in several corporate events with various partners. During early 2005, she co-founded Salsa Tribal Jam, with Mo, her partner at the time. They performed their last show together as STJ in the 2005 UAE Salsa Championships. Since then, Alex has teamed up with her current partner James, who she says, has taken her dancing to a new level, and together they are starting to build up a solid reputation.
